Least, Last with a Little Bit...

I have had many running news years resolutions, and one of them was to read the bible in its entirety. I am finally making a dent in it this year. According to the the Bible App, I am on track to finish February 2020. During my reading today, I stumbled on the familiar story of Gideon.

Gideon was selected by God to lead his people into a great battle. Now the caveat is that Gideon was caught off guard by this selection. His exact words were: “But Lord, how can I rescue Israel? My clan is the weakest in the tribe of Manasseh, and I am the least important member of my family.”

Have you ever felt that way? I know I have. I mean when I set out to do this work I was definitely from the tribe of Least, Last with a Little Bit!  At first it was overwhelming, and quite frankly, I felt foolish. I thought to myself, Rachel “get a grip” and be realistic.

However, I knew like Gideon that I was called and selected to do this work and could not shake it. I decided to step out on faith, and you know what, God has (and still is) taking my little bit and making it more than enough.

At this moment I am reminded of another bible story of the poor widow who was going to make her last meal for her a her child, when the prophet Elijah asked her for something to eat, she explained to him her situation (and in the Rachel International Version) said, “I only got this little bit.” You have got to read the story for yourself in 1 Kings 17:7-16. Because she gave the little she had and the Lord made sure she never ran out!

I dropped in today to tell you that if you are least, last with only a little bit; you are more than qualified to do God’s will.  As a matter of fact, you have the exact criteria and perfect set of circumstances to be mightily used by God.  So get excited and stay encouraged!

I am sure you know by now that it only takes a little bit to help make a difference and support the work we are doing in Haiti. Click here to take your little bit and help me supply much need school supplies and book bags for school children in Haiti.
